Minnesota reaction to common core

While NJ wants to adopt the common core as quickly as possible.
Many states are not so enthusiastic.
See Minnesota's Governor reaction here

  1. Governor Pawlenty wants Algebra to be the required eighth grade mathematics course. He objects to the common core because it does not demand that approach.

  2. The Governor needs to read The Misplaced Math Student: Lost in Eighth-Grade Algebra as the research is clear that algebra for all eighth graders is not an appropriate nor successful path. See
